Q&A: Sara Al Awadhi from Atyab Al Marshoud

Celebrate life with scent

Scent triggers nostalgia – because the part of the brain that processes smell is closely connected to the areas that handle emotion and memory. We asked Sara Ishaq Al Awadhi (Owner of Atyab Al Marshoud) why scent is a perfect way to mark the most important moments in life.

Scents

Do you ever intentionally create nostalgic scents?

“Yes, we often mix smells that remind people of certain times or places; like fresh wood, earthy notes, or garden flowers; to bring back good memories or feelings. It’s like bottling a moment from the past.”

Why does the link between scent and memory make perfumes a good way to mark major life events?

“Because scent is strongly tied to memory, wearing a specific perfume during a major life event can help you remember it more clearly and emotionally. Just one spray later can bring all the feelings and memories back.”

Can you recommend a particular scent to mark a life milestone?

“Our best seller scents like Marshoud 4 white (fresh and elegant) or lily musk EDP (soft and memorable) work well. They’re timeless and unique enough to feel special every time you smell them again.”
